Have you been part of a group where you have spent a lot of time together but still don’t really know each other?
When you are surprised to hear about a person’s struggles or triumphs after the fact and wondering how did you not know after spending so much time with them?
Here at St. Peter’s we want to move beyond superficial conversations into deeper relationships, mutual care, and vulnerability.
Starting in September we will be offering a new opportunity called The Table We Share: An intentional potluck for good food, deeper listening, and growing community
Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to share and come ready to share a little of yourself, too. After the service we will put out the tables and gather around to enjoy a meal together and then to make space for stories, reflection, and listening.
After dinner, we will light a candle and offer a series of gentle prompts. One at a time, as we pass the candle and each person will have a few minutes to respond while the rest of us simply listen. There is no need to give advice, fix anything, or respond to someone’s story. You are always welcome to pass.
The purpose is simple: to know one another a little more deeply, and to be known a little more fully and our prayer is that from there we will know how to support, pray and care for each other more intentionally. This is more than a potluck. It is an opportunity to break bread, listen deeply, and strengthen the bonds of community.
